  The present invention relates to a method for controlling undesired vegetation by application of acylhydrazides of the general formula I wherein the variables are defined according to the description, processes and intermediates for preparing the acylhydrazides of the formula I, compositions comprising them and their use as herbicides, i.e. for controlling harmful plants, a method for controlling unwanted vegetation which comprises allowing a herbicidal effective amount of at least one acylhydrazide of the formula I to act on plants, their seed and/or their habitat as well as to their use as pharmaceutical active compound and a method of treating or preventing infections by application of the acylhydrazides of the formula I.
