    Disclosed is a degradable hyperbranched resin prepared from the following components in parts by weight: 1-100 parts of a cyclic monomer, 10-60 parts of an anti-fouling vinyl functional monomer, 5-60 parts of a difunctional monomer, 0-70 parts of a vinyl monomer, 1-20 parts of an initiator, 0.5-10 parts of a chain transfer agent, and 50-150 parts of an organic solvent. The difunctional monomer and the chain transfer agent are introduced during polymerization, so that a hyperbranched structure is prepared from a traditional linear polymeric anti-fouling resin and same is applied to the marine anti-fouling field for the first time. In addition, the resin further has the advantages of a high solid content and a low viscosity of a hyperbranched polymer, and the preparation method is easy and feasible, lower in cost, suitable for industrial production, and has good development prospects in the field of marine anti-fouling coatings.

    Disclosed are the use of novel surfactants for the synthesis of emulsion polymer latexes, particularly those used in paints, coatings, and pressure sensitive adhesives. The surfactant compositions for emulsion polymer latexes comprise sterically bulky surfactants whose composition comprises at least one alkoxylated polyaryl substituted aromatic sulfosuccinate compound. The novel surfactants provide for the production of stable, small particle size distribution emulsion polymer latexes. The resulting latexes, when formulated into latex paint, impart improvements in water resistance as measured by film opacity, blister resistance and improved leveling characteristics, and when formulated into pressure sensitive adhesives, provide improved water resistance characteristics as measured by film opacity.

    The present invention provides devices and articles of manufacture comprising a low-voltage operable, highly sensitive, and selectively responsive polymer for the detection of nitroaromatic compounds, including explosives. Resistive devices were fabricated by simple spin-coating on flexible and transparent substrates as well as silicon substrates, and were stable under ambient temperature and oxygen levels before exposure to the nitroaromatics. After exposure to 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT), the devices showed increased conductance, even with pg quantities of TNT, accompanied by a confirming color change from colorless to deep red. The relative conductance increase per unit exposure is the highest yet reported for TNT. Aromatic anion salts, on the other hand, did not induce any electronic responses. Methods of making the articles and devices, and their use are also provided.
