Tetrazoles were effectively synthesized from amides using diphenyl phosphorazidate or bis(p-nitrophenyl) phosphorazidate in the presence of aromatic bases. Various amides underwent the proposed cycloaddition reaction to provide the corresponding tetrazoles. Studies on the racemization of chiral substrates were also performed.
