The invention relates to a molecular reinforced polyamide composition comprising at least one linear or branched polyamide and a hyperbranched porous aromatic polymeric macromolecule which comprises rigid aromatic recurring units, the macromolecule also comprising at least one site on which at least one linear or branched polyamide chain is attached, the functional group optionally functionalized with a functional group that comprises an initiator molecule for an anionic polyamide polymerisation reaction. The composition according to the invention is homogeneous in the melt and shows at least the same improvement of mechanical properties (especially the modulus, strength and strain-at-break) as the composition according to the state of the art. The composition according to the invention is preferably obtained by copolymerizing the hyperbranched macromolecule with the monomers from which the polyamide is formed. If at least site of the hyperbranched porous aromatic polymeric macromolecule is functionalized with a functional group that comprised an initiator molecule for an anionic polyamide polymerisation reaction, the compatibility between the hyperbranched macromolecule and the polymer matrix is improved, such that the rate of dissolution and the amount of hyperbranched macromolecule that can be dissolved in the polyamide matrix is enhanced and hence, a composition with further improved mechanical properties is obtained.
