  A process of producing a monoazo lake pigment comprising the steps of: a) diazotizing an aromatic amine having to produce a water soluble group to produce a diazo component; b) coupling the diazo component with a coupler component; and c) conducting laking after or simultaneously with the coupling step b, thereby forming a laked pigment aqueous slurry,    wherein the laking is carried out in the presence of 0.1 to 40 parts by weight of a water-soluble acrylic polymer per 100 parts by weight of the coupler component.
