The copper(I) complex of bis-(2-(2-pyridyl)-ethyl)-(2-(N-p-toluenesulfonamido)-ethyl)amine (PETAEA), a monoanionic, tripodal tetradentate ligand, was prepared, characterized, and shown to be an effective catalyst for atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP).
