A copper(II) dimer: aqua(μ-2,2'-bipyrimidine-N,N')(perchlorato)bis{[2,6-bis(2-pyridyl)pyridine-N,N',N'']copper(II)} triperchlorate
摘要:
The title compound, [Cu-2(ClO4)(C8H6N4)(C15H11N3)(2)(H2O)](ClO4)(3), consists Of a dinuclear copper(II) unit, the bridge being the bipyrimidine (bipym) ligand, which contains a twofold rotation axis. The Cu atoms are six-coordinated by five N atoms from the bipym and terpyridine (terpy) molecules, and by an O atom that belongs either to a water molecule or a perchlorate anion, presenting a distorted octahedral geometry. The equatorial Cu-N distances range between 1.943(3) and 2.056(3) Angstrom. One apical position is occupied by a bipym N atom at a distance of 2.328(3) Angstrom, while the other apex of the octahedron is occupied alternatively by the O atom of the water molecule or an O atom of the perchlorate, with Cu-O distances of 2.445(11) and 2.721(11) Angstrom, respectively. Most of the remaining perchlorate O atoms are disordered.
The adsorption of 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine, 4′-(5-mercaptopentyl)-2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridinyl, and perchlorate on silver and copper surfaces monitored by SERS
摘要:
The adsorption of 2,2':6',2"-terpyridine on Ag and Cu electrode surfaces has been studied by using surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). Two types of surface complexes have been found on a silver electrode: the first one is stable near the open circuit potential, having bonding between tpy and silver active site analogous to the Ag-N bonding in the [Ag-1(tpy)Cl].2H(2)O complex; and the second one is stable in the -0.1 to -0.5 V (Ag/AgCl) potential range, where the interaction between tpy and silver active site is similar to the Cu-N bonding in the [Cu-II(tpy)Cl-2] complex. The SERS spectra of 4'-(5-mercaptopentyl)-2,2':6',2"-terpyridinyl (tpy-SH) have shown an increase in the relative intensity of the mercaptopentyl moiety bands and a band at 310 cm(-1), assigned to the AgS stretching, indicating an adsorption through the S atom. In addition, using the Raman results of different copper perchlorate salts obtained with different hydration degrees, it has been possible to characterize the adsorption of perchlorate anion on silver electrode and the kind of coordination in the [Cu-II(tpy)(H2O)(ClO4)]ClO4 and [Cu-II(tpy)(H2O)(ClO4)(2)] complexes. The binding of seven ureas and amides to Cu(terpy)(2+) in methanol has been studied by EPR, NMR and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The association constants range from 6.5 M (1) for acetamide to 45.3 M (1) for propyleneurea and correlate with the gas phase basicity of ligands. In methanol/water mixtures the affinity drops rapidly on increase in water content to 20 vol.%, but the binding of propyleneurea is detectable with K = 4.1 M (1) even in pure aqueous medium.
