  对映异构纯的苄基亚砜是形成新 C-C 键的有效工具，可控制新立体中心的构型。对映体富集的叔丁硫代亚磺酸叔丁酯与苄基锂衍生物的反应，得到了相应甲苯衍生物的去质子化，得到了多种具有完全反转构型的苄基叔丁基亚砜。苄基亚砜原位去质子化，加入亲电子试剂得到具有良好非对映选择性的α-取代产物。
