  41(b -Ethyl)-morpholine nicotinate is prepared by treating nicotinic acid or a reactive derivative thereof such as its anhydride, nicotinyl halide, or an ester or an alkali metal salt of nicotinic acid with 4-(b -hydroxy-ethyl)-morpholine or 4-(b -halogeno-ethyl)-morpholine. In examples (1) 4-(b -hydroxy-ethyl)-morpholine is treated with nicotinic acid and (2) 4-(b -chloro-ethyl)-morpholine is treated with sodium nicotinate.
