Triarylazasuccinic anhydrides have been prepared and found to efficiently decompose photochemically by two pathways to give either the corresponding triarylimine, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide or a diarylcarbenoid intermediate, carbon dioxide and an arylisocyanate.
