  Dyes having the structure wherein A represents a substituted or unsubstituted acidic nucleus having a carboxyphenyl substituent selected from the group consisting of 2-pryazolin-5-ones free of any substituent bonded thereto through a carboxyl group, rhodanines, hydantoins, 2-thiohydantoins, 4-thiohydantoins, 2,4-oxazolidindiones, 2-thio-2,4-oxazolidindiones, isoxazolinones, barbituric, 2-thiobarbiturics, and indandiones, R represents hydrogen, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or benzyl, R¹ and R² each independently represents substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl, or taken together with R⁵, R⁶, N, and the carbon atoms to which they are attached, represent the atoms needed to complete a julolydyl ring, R³ represents H, or substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl, R⁵ and R⁶ each independently represents H, or R⁵ taken together with R¹, or R⁶ taken together with R², represent the atoms necessary to complete a carbocyclic ring, and m is 0 or 1 are disclosed.   (EN) Solid particle dispersion of dyes of the formula: [D-(A)y]-Xn, where D is a chromophoric light-absorbing compound, which may or may not comprise an aromatic ring if y is not 0 and which comprises an aromatic ring if y is 0, A is an aromatic ring bonded directly or indirectly to D, X is a substituent, either on A or on an aromatic ring portion of D, with an ionizable proton, y is 0 to 4, and n is 1 to 7, where the dye is substantially aqueous insoluble at a pH of 6 or below and substantially aqueous soluble at a pH of 8 or above, are useful as filter dyes for photographic compositions. They may be coated in photographic layer without a mordant, and they do not wander at coating pH's. At processing pH's, however, they are solubilized for easy removal and/or decolorization.(FR) Dispersions de particules solides de colorants de formule: [D-(A)y]-Xn, où D est un composé chromophore photo-absorbant, pouvant comprendre ou non un anneau aromatique si y n'est pas 0 et comprenant un anneau aromatique si y est 0, A est un anneau aromatique lié directement ou indirectement à D, X est un substituant, soit sur A soit sur une partie d'anneau aromatique de D, avec un proton ionisable, y vaut de 0 à 4 et n vaut de 1 à 7, le colorant étant essentiellement aqueux et insoluble à un pH inférieur ou égal à 6 et essentiellement aqueux et soluble à un pH supérieur ou égal à 8. Ces dispersions, utiles en tant que colorants de filtrage pour compositions photographiques, peuvent être déposées en formant des couches photographiques, sans utiliser de mordant, et elles ne se déplacent pas aux pH de revêtement. Aux pH de traitement elles sont toutefois solubilisées et peuvent être éliminées et/ou décolorées aisément.
