The oxime and the tosylhydrazone of the phenoxyacetylcephalosporin-2-carboxaldehyde 4 have been shown to undergo novel and similar rearrangements in basic media. These processes resulted in the cleavage of the Δ3 double bond, with retention of all atoms of the starting materials.
