  纯化的BF 3-醚酸酯与高浓度的3β-乙酰氧基-5,6α-环氧-5α-胆甾烷（I）在苯中反应，生成不对称的二甾体醚（IIa）。醚（IIa）的形成涉及甾体骨架之一的新型“骨架重排”，产生5β，14β-二甲基18,19-bisnor结构，所有环结构型均反转。3,3-乙二氧基-5,6β-环氧-5β-胆甾烷与BF 3-醚酸酯反应生成重排单体产品（IVd），以及其他产品。3β，5,6β-三乙酰氧基-5α-胆甾烷在80°C的乙酸酐溶液中用BF 3-醚酸酯处理时经历了类似的“骨架”转变。
