  α-Oxoketene dithioacetals derived from various cyclic and acyclic ketones are shown to be useful intermediates for the synthesis of substituted and fused quinolizinium derivatives by reaction with 2-picolyllithium followed by cyclization in the presence of borontrifluoride etherate.
