The asymmetric hydroformylation of vinyl heteroarenes (vinylfurans and vinylthiophenes) was investigated by using Rh(I)-BINAPHOS derivatives as a catalyst. The hydroformylation of vinylthiophenes 1 gave the corresponding branched aldehydes 2 with high enantiopurities as major products.
