An efficient and mild fluorination of vinylazides for the synthesis of α-fluoroketones is described. The mechanistic studies indicated that a single-electron transfer (SET) and a subsequent fluorine atom transfer process could be involved in the reaction.

Synthesis of unsymmetrically substituted pyrazines has been a challenge. The reactivity of α-imino carbenoids derived from α-diazo oxime ethers has been exploited for pyrazinesynthesis, in which the reaction of α-diazo oxime ethers with 2H-azirines provides highly substituted pyrazines in good to excellent yields.

The reaction protocol is operationally simple and conducted under an aerobic atmosphere, allowing highly functionalized α-azido-β-fluoronitriles bearing a quaternary carbon to be furnished, that are difficult to access by existing methods.
