    Imines derived from unactivated aldehydes or ketones and primary amines or α‐amino acid esters have been shown to undergo a ZnII‐catalyzed reaction with a variety of terminal alkynes to give secondary propargylamines that have tri‐ and tetrasubstituted α‐carbon atoms (from aldimines and ketimines, respectively).

    A process of the present invention produces an organic compound by allowing a compound containing an electron attractive group of following Formula (1): 1 wherein Y is an electron attractive group; and R b and R c are each a hydrogen atom or an organic group, where Y, R b and R c may respectively be combined with each other to form a ring with an adjacent carbon atom, to react with a compound containing an unsaturated carbon-carbon bond of following Formula (2) or 2 wherein R d , R e , R f , R g , R i and R j are each a hydrogen atom or an organic group, where R d , R e , R f and R g may respectively be combined to form a ring with one or two adjacent carbon atoms, and R i and R j may be combined to form a ring with adjacent two carbon atoms, in the presence of oxygen and a catalytic compound of a Group 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 element of the Periodic Table of Elements to yield a compound of following Formula (3) or (8): 3 wherein Z is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group; and Y, R b , R c , R d , R e , R f , R g , R i and R j have the same meanings as defined above. This process can efficiently produce a compound having an alkyl group or alkenyl group bonded at the alpha position of an electron attractive group, or a derivative thereof, by catalytic radical addition reaction.

    A process produces an organic compound by allowing (A) a compound capable of generating a free radical to react with (B) at least one of esters and salts of nitrous acid in the presence of a nitrogen-containing cyclic compound constitutively having a skeleton represented by following Formula (i) in its ring: 1 wherein X is an oxygen atom or an —OR group, and wherein R is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl-protecting group. Examples of the nitrogen-containing cyclic compound are cyclic imide compounds having a cyclic imide skeleton represented by following Formula (I): 2 wherein n is 0 or 1; X is an oxygen atom or an —OR group, and wherein R is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl-protecting group.

    In the presence of an iridium compound, an imine of the following formula (1): wherein R1, R2 and R3 are each, identical to or different from one another, a hydrogen atom or a non-reactive organic group, where R1 and R2 may be combined to form a ring together with the adjacent carbon atom, is reacted with a diazoacetic acid derivative of the following formula (2):         N2CHR4     (2) wherein R4 is a cyano group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, a carbamoyl group or the like, to yield an aziridine compound of the following formula (5): wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 have the same meanings as defined above. The process can easily and efficiently produce aziridine compounds.
