Chain-growth condensation polymerization of 3-(4-octyloxybenzylamino)benzoic acid esters bearing an alkoxy group on the benzene ring was investigated for the synthesis of polyamides having a specific conformation owing to intramolecular hydrogen bonding of CONH⋯OR.
