The addition of carbamoyl anions to azirines affords synthetically useful 2-aziridinyl amide building blocks. The reaction scope was explored with respect to both formamide and azirine, and the addition was found to be highly diastereoselective. A one-pot conversion of a ketoxime to an aziridinyl amide was demonstrated. The method was employed to incorporate an aziridine residue into a dipeptide segment
The purely aliphatic 2,3-dipropyl-2H-azirine (1) reacts on irradiation with a mercury high-pressure lamp through a Vycor filter with methyl trifluoroacetate or acetone to form 3-oxazolines 3a, b (65%) resp. 4 (14%) (Scheme 1). 9-Azabicyclo[6.1.0]non-1(9)-ene (5) on irradiation in the presence of the dipolarophiles methyl trifluoroacetate, methyl difluoroacetate, 1,1,1-trifluoro-propanone and acetone
ring-expansion reaction of 2H-azirine with trifluoroacetic anhydride for the synthesis of 2-(trifluoromethyl)oxazoles is disclosed. The reaction features readily available reactants, relatively mild conditions, and high yields of products. The generated 2-(trifluoromethyl)oxazole core could be easily converted into 3-(trifluoromethyl)-1,2,4-triazines through hydrazinolysis reaction.
