Novel multi-stimuli responsive molecules based on photochromic bithienylethenes containing the tetrathiafulvalene unit

photochromic bisthienylethenes (BTEs) containing the tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) unit have been prepared. They are not only photochromic reversible, but TTF can achieve an electrochemically reversible conversion among TTF, TTF˙+/TTF22+ and TTF2+, accompanied with significant color changes. Explicit interactions between BTE and TTF units in the molecules can be observed.
