    The grease composition of the present invention comprises at least one base oil selected from a mineral oil and a synthetic oil, and based on the total amount of the grease composition, 2 to 35% by mass of a thickener, 0.05 to 5% by mass of an epoxy compound and 0.1 to 20% by mass of an antiwear additive. The grease of the present invention is good in stability, lubricity and friction characteristics and excellent in long-term reliability even under severe use conditions as compared with conventional grease.

    This invention provides a refrigerator working fluid composition characterized by excellent compatibility, lubricating ability, thermal stability, and electrical insulation capacity, and comprising a refrigerating machine oil and a hydrofluorocarbon compound, wherein the refrigerating machine oil comprises: (A) 100 parts by weight of at least one ester compound selected from the group consisting of: (1) ester compounds obtained from (a) an aliphatic polyhydric alcohol having 1 to 6 primary hydroxyl groups, (b) a straight or branched chain saturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acid having 2 to 9 carbon atoms or a derivative thereof, and (c) a straight or branched chain saturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acid having 2 to 10 carbon atoms or a derivative thereof; and (2) ester compounds obtained from (a) an aliphatic polyhydric alcohol having 1 to 6 primary hydroxyl groups, (d) a straight or branched chain saturated aliphatic monohydric alcohol having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and (e) a polycarboxylic acid having 2 to 10 carbon atoms or a derivative thereof; and (B) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of 0.1 to 5.0 parts by weight of a triaryl phosphate, a triaryl phosphite, or a mixture thereof; 0.001 to 0.1 parts by weight of benzotriazole, a derivative thereof, or a mixture thereof; 0.05 to 2.0 parts by weight of an epoxy group-containing compound; and 0.001 to 2.0 parts by weight of a metal deactivator having a chelating function.

    A refrigerator oil for use with an HFC refrigerant containing HFC-134a and/or HFC-125, which comprises: (A) 70 to 99% by weight of an alkylbenzene oil containing at least 60% by weight (based on the total weight of the component (A)) of alkylbenzenes having a molecular weight of 200 to 350 and (B) 30 to 1% by weight of a synthetic oil containing oxygen. There is also proposed a refrigerator fluid composition comprising the above-mentioned refrigerator oil and an HFC refrigerant containing HFC-134a and/or HFC-125, together with or without an additive such as a phosuphorus compound.

    A lubricating oil for refrigerating machines mainly comprises polyoxyalkylene compounds represented by the following formula (I);    wherein A represents a residue obtained from a compound which has both a heterocyclic ring having an ether linkage and hydroxyl groups in the molecule by eliminating the hydroxyl groups from the compound; R¹ and R² are each an alkylene group; R³ is an alkyl group; R⁴ is hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; a and b are each a positive integer and ℓ, m and n are each an integer of 0 or more with the proviso that a·ℓ + b·m = 2 to 100 and ℓ + m + n = 2 to 20; further,    the polyoxyalkylene compounds satisfying the following two conditions: (a) the compounds have a hydroxyl value ranging from 0 mgKOH/g to 30.0 mgKOH/g and (b) a ratio of butylene groups of all alkylene groups represented by R¹ and R² to the all alkylene groups satisfies the following formula (1)0.5 ≦ p/(p + q) ≦ 1.0    wherein "p" is the number of butylene groups, "q" is the number of alkylene groups excluding the butylene groups. In other embodiments, this invention relates to a composition for refrigerating machines comprising the lubricating oil mentioned above and an alkane fluoride and/or alkane chlorofluoride refrigerant, and also to a refrigerating machine wherein the composition is used.

In other embodiments, a fluid composition for use in refrigerating machine which comprises a hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant and at least one hydrocarbon compound, a refrigerating machine which uses therein the fluid composition as a circulating fluid, and a method of lubricating a cooling system of a refrigerator using therein a hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant by using said refrigerator oil in the cooling system.
