    Branched polymers are prepared from at least (A) at least one monomer having an electron donor moiety, (B) at least one monomer having an electron acceptor moiety, and (C) at least one multifunctional branching agent comprising a urea moiety and at least two N-vinyl groups. The branched polymers are least 20% (by weight) soluble in a solvent for which the corresponding polymer of equal molecular weight made without said multifunctional branching agent is at least 20% (by weight) soluble. Due in part to the wide range of chemistries and solubility and rheological properties, the branched polymers find application in personal care, pharmaceutical/nutritional, and performance chemicals compositions.

A secondary battery having a positive electrode and a negative electrode makes use of this electrolytic solution.

The present invention relates to “a binder agent composition containing (A) one or more kinds of polymers containing polyacrylic acid, (B) a bivalent to decavalent alcohol, and (C) water”, “a slurry composition for lithium batteries, containing 1) a silicon-containing active material, 2) a conductive assistant, and 3) the binder agent composition”, “an electrode for lithium batteries that has 1) a silicon-containing active material, 2) a conductive assistant, 3) a binder agent derived from the binder agent composition, and 4) a current collector”, and “a method for preparing an electrode for lithium batteries, including coating a current collector with the slurry composition and drying the slurry composition after the coating”.

    Methods for preparing enantiomerically enriched aminopentanenitriles are provided. The methods involve selective acylation of an enantiomeric mixture of 3-aminopentanenitrile or selective hydrolysis of an enantiomeric mixture of 3-aminopentanenitrile amide in the presence of an enzyme selected from the group comprising lipase, esterase, and acylase. The methods yield R-aminopentanenitrile, which can be used to produce pharmaceutical products.
