New N-alkylation and N-arylation procedures starting from anilinomagnesium (ArNHMgBr) are reported. For N-alkylation with alkyl bromides, addition of hexamethylphosphoramide to an ArNHMgBr solution in tetrahydrofuran (THF) is effective.
