Two new ligands 4 and 5, containing in their structures aza-crown ethers moieties in addition to tetramethylbenzidine units, have been prepared. Their ability to complex transition metal cations has been studied by NMR and electrochemical techniques. Ligand 5 gives rise to two diastereoisomeric complexes with Cd(NO3)(2).
