Cyclam derivative (2) having four naphthylmethyl pendants was found to display unique photophysical properties in the presence of the guest metal salts. The fluorescence of the cyclam (2) was enhanced with various metal salts. The photoinduced electron transfer (PET) sensor (2)exhibited high Zn2+ selectivity.
