The present invention provides compounds produced by the reaction of glycidyl ethers and glycidyl esters with ether compounds including N,N,N′-trimethyl-bis-(aminoethyl)ether. N,N,N′-trimethyl-bis-(aminoethyl)ether and its derivatives can be used as polyurethane catalysts.
The present invention relates to polymeric compositions useful in the manufacture of biocompatible medical devices. More particularly, the present invention relates to certain cationic monomers capable of polymerization to form polymeric compositions having desirable physical characteristics useful in the manufacture of ophthalmic devices. Such properties include the ability to extract the polymerized medical devices with water. This avoids the use of organic solvents as is typical in the art. The polymer compositions comprise polymerized silicon-containing monomers end-capped with polymerizable cationic hydrophilic groups.

1-Alkoxy-2-dialkylamino-ethane werden aus Dialkylamino-ethanol durch Umsetzung mit Alkalialkoholat und danach mit Alkylhalogeniden erhalten, wobei der aus dem Alkoholat gebildete Alkohol vollständig durch Destillation unter Zusatz des Reaktionsproduktes oder eines Lösungsmittels, das mit dem Alkohol ein Azeotrop bildet, erfolgt und die Reindestillation in Gegenwart von Alkali-Alkoholat in mindestens äquivalenten Mengen zum Dialkylamino-ethanol erfolgt.
Hohe Ausbeute und Reinheit wird durch Einsatz der Alkali-β-dialkylamino-ethanolats in die Alkylierung erreicht.
