The alkylation of amines with either alcohols or carboxylic acids represents a mild and safe alternative to the use of genotoxic alkyl halides and sulfonate esters. Here we report two complementary one-pot systems in which the reductive aminase (RedAm) from Aspergillus oryzae is combined with either (i) a 1° alcohol/alcohol oxidase (AO) or (ii) carboxylic acid/carboxylic acid reductase (CAR) to affect

An efficient method for allylic oxidation of cyclic and acyclic alkenes to the corresponding α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds in good yields was described using catalytic amounts of chromia-pillared montmorillonite and equimolar quantities of tert-butyl hydroperoxide. This is also a convenient method for selectiveoxidativedeprotection of allylethers and amines using same system. Incidentally this
Novel 1-(4-substituted phenyl)-1H-imidazoles and their use as antiarrhythmic, anti-hypertensive and anti-ischemic agents is described. Pharmaceutical formulations containing such compounds are also discussed.

Dialkylaminium cation radicals produced from the title precursors add to ethyl vinyl ether to give β-amino ethers in good yields. When an allyl group is present on nitrogen, a cyclization reaction follows the addition, and pyrrolidines are formed. Simple cyclic enol ethers also can be employed.
