A facile one-pot synthesis of novel steroidal dispiro-indenoquinoxaline pyrrolidines via multicomponent-[3+2]-cycloaddition of azomethine ylides in ionic liquid is described. The structure of cycloadduct is confirmed by IR, (1)H NMR, (13)C NMR, high resolution mass spectroscopy and elemental analysis.

A facile one-pot synthesis of novel steroidal dispiropyrrolidines has been accomplished by 1,3-dipolarcycloaddition reaction of various azomethineylides derived from isatin/acenaphthenequinone/ninhydrin and sarcosine with various estrone derivatives as dipolarophiles, in good yield. The effect of various solvents on the 1,3-dipolarcycloaddition reaction are also studied.
