The synthesis of several phenacyl ester derivatives linked to oxygen and nitrogen heterocycles, benzoquinolone and (benzo)coumarins, was carried out in an effort to obtain systems that could be applied as photocleavable (bi)functional linkers for solid phase peptide synthesis.
