  2-(4-Aminobutoxy)stilbenes having the formula (I): wherein R' is (1) herein R' and R' are each hydrogen or C1-C alkyl, (2) -N N-R' wherein R" is C,-C, alkyl which may be substituted with hydroxy, or (3) hydroxypiperidino; and benzene rings, at least one of which contains one or more substituents selected from halogen, C,-C, alkyl, C1-C3 alkoxy, wherein R' and Rb are each C1-C3 alkyl, nitro and R OC- wherein R is C1-C3 alkyl, and an acid addition salt thereof, are prepared and found useful as pharmaceutical agents, particularly as anti-convulsants and skeletal muscle relaxants.
