A method of producing propylene and ethylene from a butene-containing hydrocarbon stream by cracking olefin compounds in the butene-containing hydrocarbon stream in the presence of a core-shell ZSM catalyst, wherein the core-shell ZSM catalyst comprises a ZSM-5 core and a silica shell disposed thereon. Various embodiments of the method of producing propylene and ethylene, and the method of making the core-shell ZSM catalyst are also provided.

A method for producing a compound, comprising mixing a compound (1) having one or two leaving groups, a compound (2) having one or two boron atom-containing leaving groups, an organic base (P), and at least one selected from the group consisting of a phase transfer catalyst and an organic base (Q) larger in the number of carbon atoms than the above-mentioned organic base in the presence of a transition metal catalyst, thereby performing a coupling reaction between the above-mentioned compound (1) and the above-mentioned compound (2).
