  Herein we present a concise preparation and characterization of 2-[(aryl)iodonio]benzenesulfonates. Determination of the X-ray crystal structure reveals a distorted trigonal bipyramidal molecular geometry about iodine and a pseudo-square geometry within the unit cell.
