  The reaction of 5'-O-benzoyl-2,3'-anhydrothymidine with triethylammonium tetrazolide in DMF at 100-120degreesC is described by a second-order kinetic equation, following-the first-order kinetics in each of the reactants. On the basis of the experimental activatin parameters, DeltaH(298)(not equal) = 80 kJ/mol, DeltaS(not equal) = -116 J x mol(-1) K-1, a mechanism was proposed, according to which in the rate-determining stage of S(N)2 reaction triethylammonium tetrazolide attacks the C-3 atom of 5'-O-benzoyl-2,3'-anhydrothymidine with simultaneous loosening of the C-3 -O-2 anhydro bond.

  The heterobridged dinuclear complexes [M(2)(mu-Pz)(mu-PPh(2))(COD)(2)] (M = Rh; Pz = pyrazolate (pz) (1) or 3,5-dimethylpyrazolate (dmpz) (2) (M = Ir, Pz = pz (3) or dmpz (4)) have been prepared by reaction of [M(2)(mu-Cl)(mu-Pz)(COD)(2)] with LiPPh(2). Substitution of the chloride bridge in [Rh-2(mu-Cl)(mu-PPh(2))(COD)(2)] by an azolate on compound is a good method for preparing complexes [Rh-2(mu-az)(mu-PPh(2))(COD)(2)] (az = 1,2,4-triazolate (tz) (5), or tetrazolate (ttz) (6)). The preparation of the heterobridged heterotrinuclear complexes [M(mu-pz)(mu-PPh(2))(COD))(2)Pd] (M = Rh (7) or Ir(8)) is also reported.

  [EN] A novel compound, used for example, as a gas generating fuel, is defined as a compound having the structural formula of R₃-R₁-R₂, wherein R1 is a urea group, R2 is a tetrazolyl group with a C-N bond to the urea group, and R3 may be defined as a non-tetrazolyl, triazolyl, heterocyclic, heterocyclic amine, aliphatic, aliphatic amine, aryl, alkyl, hydrogen, or nitrogen group linked to the free nitrogen on the urea group. A method of making the compound is also provided. A gas generating composition (12) containing the novel compound as a fuel, and an oxidizer is also provided. The novel compound maybe contained within a gas generant composition (12), within a gas generator (10). The gas generator (10) may be contained within a gas generating system such as an airbag inflator (10) or seat belt assembly (150), or more broadly within a vehicle occupant protection system (180).
