The kinetics of oxidation of uric acid (UaH2) by chloramine-T (CAT) studied in the presence of osmium(VIII) in alkaline medium conform to a rate law (i) where K2 and K3 are second dissociation constant of uric acid and formation constant of an intermediate complex respectively. Osmium(VIII) catalyzes the reaction intramolecularly via redox cycle of Os(VIII)/Os(VI).
