  Six new complexes, [UO2(Dbsal-o-phdn)L] and [UO2(Dbsalen)L], [Dbsal-o-phdn = N,N'-o-phenylenebis(3,5-dibromosalicylideneimine), Dbsalen = N,N'-ethylenebis(3,5-dibromosalicylideneimine), L = MeOH, EtOH, pyridine (Py)] were synthesized by the reaction of dioxouranium(VI) nitrate hexahydrate with Dbsal-o-phdnH(2) or DbsalenH(2) and L (EtOH, MeOH, pyridine) in acetone dr L. The Schiff bases Dbsal-o-phdnH(2), DbsalenH(2) and their complexes have been characterized on the base of elemental analyses, infrared and electronic spectral data. The structure and geometry of the new complexes are discussed.
