  Phosphorus pentasulphide converts optically active phosphonothiolates into the corresponding phosphonodithioates with predominant retention of configuration at the phosphorus atom. Reaction of the optically active methylpropylphenylphosphine oxide was found to afford racemic methylpropylphenylphosphine sulphide.
