The present invention relates to a novel antiozonant as well as antioxidant based on functionalized hindered phenol and the process for the preparation thereof of formula 1
wherein R1 is tert-butyl and R2 and R3 are C1 to C8 linear or branched alkyl. The present invention also relates to a process for the preparation thereof comprising dissolving a compound of formula 3
wherein R1 is tert-butyl, with liquid bromine in a non polar organic solvent at temperature range 80 to 95° C. for a period of 4 to 7 hours, evaporating the solvent under reduced pressure to obtain a compound of formula 2
wherein R1 is a tertiary butyl group and X is Br, reacting the compound of formula 2 with a compound of formula 4
wherein R2 and R3 are C1 to C8 linear or branched alkyl, dissolved in an organic solvent in presence of a suitable mild base at a temperature ranging from 80 to 95° C. for a period of 4 to 7 hours, bringing the reaction mixture to room temperature, separating the organic layer and concentrating the product by solvent evaporation under reduced pressure and purifying the final product by column chromatography to obtain compound of formula 1.
Disclosed are novel 2,4,6 substituted pyrimidines where the substituents may be the same or different groups. At least one substituent must be N-alkyl parphenylenediamino, and the other substituents may be various radicals containing sulfur, oxygen or nitrogen or hydrogen or alkyl groups. The compounds are useful as antioxidants and antiozonants for unsaturated compounds and polymers.
The ability to attach a preformed rhodium and iridium homogeneous catalyst to a support would have a distinct advantage over the ‘one pot–free solvent’ reductivealkylation of primary amines to form IPPD and DMPPD.

Disclosed is a process for preparing an N-mono- substituted-p-phenylenediamine which comprises reacting a compound having the formula:
wherein R is C1-C12 alkyl, phenyl, naphthyl" or phenyl substituted in the 2-, 4-, or 2,4- positions by C1-C8 alkyl; and R' is hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl with a primary or secondary alcohol in the presence of a base in the absence of hydrogen and noble metal catalyst.
