  The diboration of alkynes accelerated by ruthenium complexes and phenoxides is disclosed. The combination of ruthenium and base catalysts and the addition of methanol have significant effects on the product yields. The obtained diboryl alkenes are easily transformed into corresponding tetrasubstituted alkenes by two-step Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions.
