    The asymmetric cyclization of 4,4-disubstituted 3-butenoic acids is studied. Amino-thiocarbamates are used as the catalysts and N-bromosuccinimide is used as the stoichiometric halogen source. The resulting gamma-butanolide products are readily converted into the corresponding gamma-butenolides (up to 58% ee) derivatives in one-pot. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

    The present invention relates to a novel triazole compound and its salts and N-oxides, a composition comprising such compound, a method for curatively or preventively controlling phytopathogenic harmful fungi of plants or crops comprising the step of applying such compound or composition, to the use of such compound or such composition to control phytopathogenic harmful fungi and to a seed that has been treated with such a compound or such a composition. Further the present invention relates to novel epoxides which are useful intermediates in the synthesis of the triazole compounds of the invention.
