  PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for isolating, with good workability, 1,3-bis(3-nitrophenoxy)benzene having low content of inorganic, in particular, sodium and bromine ions, from a reaction mixture obtained by reacting a sodium salt of resorcinol with m-bromonitrobenzene in a pyridine solvent in the presence of a monovalent copper catalyst.

  SOLUTION: The method for isolating 1,3-bis(3-nitrophenoxy)benzene comprises concentrating the reaction mixture, diluting the concentrated mixture with an ester-based solvent, filtering out an inorganic salt from the diluted mixture, concentrating the filtrate, adding an alcoholic solvent to the concentrate, and collecting the resulting crystals.
