    An epoxy resin composition comprising a blend of: (a) at least one condensed polynucleararomatic epoxy resin derived from 2,6-dihydroxynaphthalene, 2,6-dihydroxyanthracene or 2,7-dihydroxyphenanthrene and (b) as curing agent, at least one polyhydric phenolic resin curing agent derived from at least one polyhydric phenolic compound having at least two phenolic hydroxyl groups which are attached to adjacent positions on an aromatic ring like catechol or dihydroxynaphthalenes, as essential components. The epoxy resin compositions according to the invention have in the cured state high heat resistance, i.e., an excellent strength at high temperature, and are not brittle at ambient temperature. They can be used as an adhesive, casting composition, encapsulating composition, moulding composition, and in the preparation of laminates.
