  A 9-aminoalkylfluorene of formula wherein: R1 is hydroxy, cyano, CONR6R7 in which R6 and R7 are independently hydrogen or alkyl; n is an integer from 3 to 5; R2 and R3 are independently hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl or phenyl alkyl, or taken together with the adjacent nitrogen atom form a heterocyclic group optionally including one further heteroatom selected from oxygen and nitrogen, and which ring is optionally substituted by up to two alkyl groups; R4 and R5 are independently hydrogen, alkyl or halogen; provided that R2 is hydrogen when R1 is hydroxy; or a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof, have been found to be very effective in the therapy of cardiac disorders, particularly cardiac arrythmias.
