    The present invention relates to substituted aryl or heteroarylpiperidine derivatives of structure (I) as melanocortin-4 receptor modulators. Depending on the structure and the stereochemistry the compounds of the invention are either selective agonists or selective antagonists of the human melanocortin-4 receptor (MC-4R). The agonists can be used for the treatment of disorders and diseases such as obesity, diabetes and sexual dysfunction, whereas the antagonists are useful for the treatment of disorders and diseases such as cancer cachexia, muscle wasting, anorexia, anxiety and depression. Generally all diseases and disorders where the regulation of the MC-4R is involved can be treated with the compounds of the invention.

    The present invention provides a catalyst for polymerizing an .alpha.-olefin which is capable of producing an .alpha.-olefin polymer having a high molecular weight in a high yield under the polymerization conditions including at high temperature, and a process for preparing an .alpha.-olefin polymer, which catalyst comprises a Component (A) which comprises a coordination compound having a skeleton of a metallocene compound comprising an indenyl ring or a hydroindenyl ring which is an indenyl having a six-membered portion hydrogenated as a ligand and having Ti, Zr or Hf as a metal component in combination with a Component (B) which is, for example, an alumoxane. The coordination compound is crosslinked at the six-membered rings characterized by the fact that two of the indenyl or hydroindenyl groups are crosslinked at the six-membered ring of the indenyl or hydroindenyl group.

    The object of the present invention is to provide a polyolefin having a good particle property in a high yield without use of an expensive alumoxane. The present invention comprises a catalyst for olefin polymerization comprising the following ingredients (A), (B) and (C), and a process for preparing an olefin polymer with use of the catalyst: Component (A): a transition metal compound having at least one conjugated five-membered ring ligand, the transition metal being in the Groups IV-VI of the Periodic Table, Component (B): an organoaluminum compound, and Component (C): a finely divided particle composition comprising 0.1-99.9% by weight of boric acid.
