We describe the synthesis of stereochemically-defined 2,3,6,7-substituted cyclohept-4-enones and 2,5,6,7-substituted cyclohept-3-enones via reaction of 2,4-disubstituted-8-oxabicyclo[3,2,1]oct-6-en-3-ones with organometallic species, and 6,7-disubstituted cyclohept-2-enones via reaction of 8-oxabicyclo[3,2,1]octan-3-one with BF3 etherate and sodium iodide.
