The present invention relates to amine-based curing agents for epoxy resins with low tendency to the formation of carbamates. In particular the invention relates to methylcyclohexyl diamine based adducts which are particularly suitable for the curing of epoxy resins in the presence of humidity, e.g. flooring applications, because of their low tendency to the formation of carbamates (blushing). Accordingly, the invention relates to a process for the preparation of a cured epoxy resin by curing a curable composition comprising an epoxy resin and an adduct at a curing temperature in the range of 0°C to 100°C, wherein the adduct is formed by reacting methylcyclohexyl diamine with a diglycidyl ether diol, and wherein the composition is exposed to humidity at least least part of the initial 24h time period of the curing starting with the time mixing epoxy resin and adduct of the composition. The invention also relates to a hardener component, comprising a diluent and a methylcyclohexyl diamine based adduct, wherein the diluent is selected from the group consisting of benzyl alcohol, bisphenol A, and alkyl substituted phenols.
