Tropone sesquiterpene phaeocaulisin D was isolated from the rhizomes of Curcuma phaeocaulis and demonstrated inhibition property for nitric oxide production. A total synthesis of phaeocaulisin D was accomplished by using intramolecular cyclization-dearomatization as a key step.
