A new method for the synthesis of isoquinolines through a catalytic acid-mediated cyclization of α-benzyl TosMIC derivatives has been developed. This methodology has been successfully applied to the totalsynthesis of mansouramycin B. This is the first totalsynthesis of this compound to be reported in the literature.
