Z1 et Z2 sont -CO-O-, -O-CO-, -CH2CH2-, OCH2-, -CH2O ou une liaison simple, et R3 est H, un groupe alcoyle ayant entre 1 et 10 C et dont un ou deux groupes CH2 non adjacents peuvent être substitués par des atomes O et/ou par des groupes -CO- et/ou par des groupes -CO-O- et/ou par des groupes -CH=CH-, ou sont F, Cl, Br o CN, à condition que lorsque Z1 = -CO-O-, A1 à la position $g(b) par rapport à la liaison -CO-O- ne comporte pas de substituants équatoriaux. Ces dérivés sont utiles comme composants de phases cristallines liquides.
