The reactivity of carbonyl-tris(trifluoromethyl)borane (CF3)3BCO against the homologous series of cyanogen (pseudo)halides NCX, X = F, Cl, Br, I, CN, was investigated. Lewis acid-base adducts (CF3)3BNCX were obtained for X = Cl, Br, I, CN and were characterized by vibrational and NMR spectroscopy.
