    The compounds are of the general formula or where R₁ is -OH, amino or -SH, R₂ is H, α- or β-naphthyl or optionally substituted phenyl, R₃ is mono-, di- or tricycloalkyl of C6-16, optionally substituted, R₄₋₇ are H or alkyl, R₈₋₉ are alkyl or may form a 6-membered ring or a 5-membered ring with R₆ and R₇, R₁₀ and R₁₁ are alkyl, and n is 0 or an integer. Synthesis examples are given, and for the preparation of starting materials. Pharmaceutical compositions for oral, topical or injectable administration contain the compounds or their acceptable salts. The compounds have excellent antiviral activity as illustrated against herpes virus and may also be effective against influenza, DNA, RNA and HIV viruses.

    A multilayer film for packaging which is superior in, such as extensible elasticity, ability for adhering onto various surfaces, transparency, clear cutting performance, heat-sealability, resistance to fogging, resistance to break-through and ability for restoring from finger pressing and which comprises outer layers made of the outer layer resin composition (I) or (II) given below and an inner layer made of an inner layer resin composition composed of a higher melting component (III) and a softening component (IV) interposed between the outer layers, wherein the resin composition (I) comprises 59.5-99.5% by weight of (A) an ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer component, which is composed of at least one copolymer of ethylene and an &agr;-olefin having 3-20 carbon atoms and which has a melt flow rate (MFR) of 0.1-10 g/10 min. and a density of 0.850 g/cm 3 -0.910 g/cm 3 ; 0-40% by weight of (B) a high-pressure process low density polyethylene having a density of 0.915-0.930 g/cm 3 , and 0.5-10% by weight of (C) an anti-fogging agent, and wherein the resin composition (II) comprises 99.5-90% by weight of (D) an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, which is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate and has a vinyl acetate content of 10-30% by weight and an MFR of 0.5-30 g/10 min., and 0.5-10% by weight of (C) anti-fogging agent.

    A method of forming a cavity between metallic wirings using a polymer capable of revealing a specific heat resistant temperature and a specific heat decomposition temperature by having a specific repeating unit structure and a specific molecular weight range and of readily forming a cavity structure between metallic wirings in, for example, semiconductors. The method comprises a step of coating the surface of a first dielectric film formed on a semiconductor substrate with a cyclic olefin based addition polymer, a step of patterning the cyclic olefin based addition polymer as a void-forming polymer, a step of forming a metallic wiring in the pattern formed on the void-forming polymer, a step of forming a second dielectric film on the void-forming polymer containing a metallic wiring, and a step of removing the void-forming polymer between the multilayered wirings by heating to form a cavity between the metallic wirings.
